How do you measure bar stools?
 |
Bar stools need to be measured from the seat to the floor. Some manufacturers measure from the bottom of the seat while others measure from the top of the seat.
24-27" Seat height would be considered a Counter Stool.
28-32" Seat height would be considered a Bar Stool.
33-24" Seat height would be considered a Spectator Stool. |
What height stool do I need?
Bar stools need to be purchased for the corresponding table and bar height. The wrong height stool will have you sitting too high or too low to reach the counter top. Use this guide as a rule of thumb for picking the right stool for your needs.
35-36" Counter Height Table would need a Counter Stool with a seat height in the 24-27" range.
40-42" Bar Height Table would need a Bar Stool with a seat height in the 28-32" range.
45-48" Spectator (Tall) Height Table would need a Spectator (Tall) Bar Stool with a seat height in the 33-34" range. |

How many stools can I fit into my space?
 |
Bar Stools need a recommended space of 21-25" per stool. The diagram shows that a space of 63-75" would accommodate 3 stools comfortably. This space will depend on the diameter of the stool seat or overall width.
If the diameter of the stool is 16-18", a 21-22" space will be needed.
If the diameter of the stool is 19-22", a 24-25" space will be needed.
Please allow more room for stools with arms or a swivel stool to allow for entry and exiting.
